I'm convinced there are two kinds of people -- those who CAN live without cats and those who CANT live without cats. Guess which kind I am! It's so great to find this website, and I hope to read some uplifting items from fellow cat-lovers.

I have two cats plus one who is a long-term guest. My building only allows two cats per apartment, so that's why I call Anschel a "long term guest". I'd like to get him into being a therapy cat, but can't find any programs or organizations that do this. I'm a little reluctant to approach hospitals and nursing homes by myself, as I would hope they only allow some kind of accredited pets to visit. Does anyone have information about this? I live in Toronto, Canada.

This is just an observation and a bit of a grumbling about people who claim they love animals.

I have found over the course of the years that people really don't like animals let alone cats. "We" are few and far between. I'm not being smug about it, just stating a fact.

I have finally learned how to spot a person who is not all that thrilled with the whiskered creatures. About a week and a half ago I was on the telephone with an acquaintance. When I told him I rescue kitties, there was a pause and then he asked how many do I have. I snapped back "None of your business." So now I sounded either paranoid or just plain crabby or both. I'm sure I'll never hear from him again...or wait I haven't. lol

I guess I get tired of trying to justify why I love them so much and why I take care of them. That they are my little family.

Alof of people including my sister suggest that I need to give them away to shelters. So after patiently explaining for the 100th time that a) the no-kill shelters are full, b) the regular shelters are full and c) I have chose this life to love them and take care of them, they still don't get it.

Now all people are not bad. I had to put up on Craig's List a plea for kitty food. I'll have the means when I get paid on Wednesday but since times have become tough and an unexpected monetary emergency popped up, I am way short of funds. I was and still am amazed at the generosity of total strangers coming forth to help feed my babies. A miracle and a humbling experience to say the least.

Well I shall end here. My first blog and hopefully in a safe place where I can share about my kitties without someone deeming me a crazy cat lady. ;)

Back to watching "Thirteen Ghosts" on YouTube!

Ciao!

Katt

There is something about the rain this morning that is nice. The gray of the sky is calming and the rain is cool, clear and clensing. There are so many things happening in my life right now, and watching the rain calmed my mind. With my mind quiet, I was able to take a step back and look at everything from a different point of view. The rain helped me to see clearly my situations and responsibilities, and what actions I need to take. With the weekend in front of me, it seems that I can do everything I need to do and still have time for myself.

3 months ago I went through a horrible loss. My seemingly healthy 5 year old siamese cat literally dropped dead in front of a family member. When they got him to me at work 30 minutes late the doctor said he must have died instantly. Losing a pet is hard, but losing a young, healthy pet is the worst. I still miss him, and think about him every night when I look at his picture on my nightstand.

Hi, We just discovered our old girl, Cuja Lula Belle is now 16 years old. Three years ago she was grossly overweight and started having seizures. They were terrible and our vet couldn't see anything wrong with her, except that she needed to loose 3 pounds. I wasn't really satisfied with our country vet not being able to determine what her problem was so I started reading and looking for more information on the net. After reading a lot about diabetis in cats and deciding that her diet wasn't what it should be, we made a drastic change in what we were feeding her. No more kibbies (although she seeks out the doggys' when she can). We feed her only wet and raw food and now 3 years later, she's slim and trim and hasn't had a seizure in almost 3 years since we changed her diet. She's the boss in this household and the 3 dogs and the other 3 cats give her a wide berth. If you want to see her, you can go to my blog at:

Cuja Lula Belle is a British Marmalade Tabby

I had to put one of my cats to sleep on New Years Day. It was very sad. She was a quirky cat with some neurological problems. About 1 1/2 yrs ago she was left at the front door of the clinic I work at. They were going to put her to sleep because they didn't think she was adoptable, so I took her. #12 but I didn't care. She was very sweet. I miss her. They didn't know what was wrong, so they didn't know how to fix it. We tried w/fluids, antibiotics, steroids, but nothing helped. She didn't even know I was there, couldn't feel her legs and was having seizures. She seemed to be in pain, so I decided to euthanize her. I didn't want her(Kahlua) to suffer.
